Poems in the Wind 36"x 18"x 1.5" Acrylic, ink, pastel
When does the scent of nature send you down a path of memories? Where are you when you feel you are no longer independent of the space around you?
When you have found your sense of place.
Kathryn’s art is inspired by the places we hold in our hearts and our memories, as well as the spaces we want to imagine. Her process is intuitive, playing with paint and materials and allowing the artwork to unfold and emerge as the sights, sounds and scents combine to create special locations that resonate within us. Her current series, “Poetry of Place” celebrates spaces that touch our soul. These spaces can be real or imaginary. They can be physical spaces, but also emotional and intellectual spaces. Wherever they are they activate our senses and evoke a response within us.
Kathryn has taken a variety of art courses through the Ottawa School of Art, Toronto School of Art and Algonquin College and has participated in many workshops with independent professional artists across North America and England. Her work is in collections across Canada, the US, Europe and India.
Kathryn has been exhibiting artwork locally for the past several years and is a member of the Kanata Civic Art Gallery. She is the the current Past President of West Carleton Arts Society after having served terms as president, treasurer and secretary. She is an active member of various local art communities.
